Swiss Secrets
Oh yes, Heidi has a few secrets to share about visiting her land of Chocolate and Cheese. Over the next few months, there will be a few posts here about special places to visit, stay over night, eat, drink and generally be merry in this small Alpine nation. If you have a special wish - something you always wanted to see, just let me know and I will gladly share a few thoughts and experiences and, as usual, addresses for you to refer to again and again as you explore this wonderful world.
Switzerland is an incredible place. High technology thrives here among the cheese producers, chocolatiers, watch makers, mountain resorts, sailing enthusiasts or rather wannabees and rehabilitation centers. OK, sure there is lots more - I am simply generalizing here to give you an idea about the diversity one can find in this tiny nation nestled like a hole in Swiss Cheese in the center of Europe. It is also probably interesting to note that Switzerland is bordered on all sides by European Countries making it as land-locked as any country could be yet wealthy enough to afford the privilege of possessing the Americas Cup two years in a row. Yes, we have some very wealthy people among us here in the mountains and also some very famous ones because, although most will not admit to it, Switzerland is a tax haven in comparison to other western countries - more on that later.
The Swiss have always enjoyed a life of secrecy and privilege so what a fitting place to write about when it comes to special places to visit - secret places off the beaten path yet geared toward hobbies that many of us can relate to.
OK, enough of an introduction - see you in the next post where I will introduce you to my favorite place for fondue.
