Luxury Yachting

Imagine the wondrous beauty of a holiday where you need to do absolutely nothing except arrive in time to enjoy your own private luxury yacht. How many of us actually dream of this sort of a vacation? How many think that they could not afford such a thing? I was one. I really gave this idea little consideration until I found a yacht and crew that operate an incredible floating paradise in the middle of the Indian Ocean. In an effort to be a bit more precise, this yacht is in the Maldives.

Upon first glance, you notice a strong clean 100ft yacht as you approach the vessel. The captain and crew give a truly warm welcome and lead you to a room that can best be described as the owner’s suite. Sure, in many ways it is a room - it has walls, windows, bed, couch, chairs, seating area, designer bathroom with glass enclosed shower, toilet, bidet and many other features one does not normally associate with life on a boat. The thing about this suite is that it is above decks, in the front of the boat and the entire front area is 50% windows with shelves just below the windows for books and other material. In front of the suite is a private deck - something of a balcony or terrace overlooking the bow and the sitting area below but out of view. So there you have it, your private quarters on a luxury yacht and we have not yet even explored the rest of the vessel.

As soon as I got the chance, I headed for the living room and found a gorgeous parquet floor with a compass design inlayed into the dark and light colored wooden deck. There were several seating areas (too bad I did not invite my entourage for this cruise - they would have had it good) and a bar supporting the rear side of the galley. The aromas in this area were amazing… spices from India and Sri Lanka were emanating from the galley and attracted my attention each time I walked past. This was going to be my galley for the next week and my menu and I was thrilled to be able to enjoy local cuisine up close and personal.

Later I moved on to the poop deck where several teak deck and lounge chairs were inviting me for a stay before I headed off to explore the scuba facilities and other assorted toys stored below decks on this beauty of a charter yacht. I was in the mood for a bit of jet skiing but before I headed in that direction, the first mate requested my attention for a bit of a tour. I may not have needed to see the engine room but it was impressive to know that we had backups for the backup generators and a fully certified engineer on board to fix anything that could possibly go wrong during our cruise. I was elated and after a sumptuous meal, fell asleep with ease in that luxury suite of a cabin I was to call ‘home’ for the week. Total cost for this level of delight? Just drop a comment and I’ll let you know more.
